Sometimes You Have To Let The Fire Rest

It's Been A While

It’s been a while since I posted here.

Four weeks, to be exact.

Not because I lost interest.

Not because I forgot.

But because life demanded more presence than production.

A Different Kind of Practice

I recently started a new job.

The kind with long commutes—over two hours a day.

Add to that a house, a family, and an ambitious to-do list that includes:

  • Renovating.

  • Building a fence.

  • Laying groundwork.

  • Constructing an outdoor kitchen with my own hands.

There wasn’t much left to give after that.

So I paused.

Not out of defeat—but out of choice.

Because sometimes, pushing through is less noble than pulling back.

The Myth of Constant Output

We often glorify consistency.

The daily grind.

The never-miss-a-day mindset.

But true discipline also knows when to rest.

To honor the season.

To step back without losing the thread of who you are.

Yoga teaches us this through Savasana.

BJJ teaches us this through resets.

Fatherhood teaches us this with every sleepless night that turns into a slower morning.

Life teaches us: you can’t grow if you’re stretched too thin.

Reigniting with Intention

Now I return—not as a machine, but as a man.

A man who’s been laying physical foundations in the earth, and emotional foundations in his life.

This break wasn’t a retreat.

It was a reconnection.

And while I may still be balancing job, family, and house projects…

I haven’t forgotten this path.

The mat still calls.

The breath still grounds.

And the fire still burns—steady, low, ready.

A Question for You

Where in your life are you forcing flow where pause is needed?

Sometimes the most honest practice is not to post, not to perform, not to push…

…but simply to be where you are—fully.
